Filipino Empanada

Filipino empanadas are made with many different fillings. Whether its grounded chicken, beef, or pork it really comes down to what you like. But of the three, the chicken breast version is the most popular. Most people like it fried to get a good flakiness with the dough, but baked is a good healthy alternative.

Filipino Tamales

Filipino tamales is made with rice flour which has a smooth pallet texture compared to it's origin version made from grainy corn flour. It is also wrapped in a banana leaf and steamed to perfection.

Lumpia

"Fried rolls pf perfection" as a friend has told me. Mostly made with ground pork for it's tastiness. Other meat alternatives have been chicken and turkey. There is a vegetable version too made with shrimp.

Lumpiang Sariwa (Lumpia Fresh)

A very healthy uncooked snack made from choice vegetables and wrapped with a raw lumpia wrapper. It is then topped with a sweet peanut butter gravy-like sauce with a peanut butter base. Smooth or crunchy peanut butter sauce is mostly personal preference, but I like it nutty to give the dish a nice extra "crunch".

Pandesal

A very popular baked mini-roll that tastes best when freshly baked. It can be eaten during breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner, but also as a snack anytime of day. Just split it in half and add-in your favorite spread. For me I like it with plain 'Dairy Creme' butter. My kids like it best with "Nutella".

Siopao

From Chinese origins, these steam buns are very tasty. In the center you can find chicken or pork asado fillings. Upon request, sometimes with a slice of boiled egg is added.

Siopao Bola-Bola

This special 'Siopao' is made and cooked the same way. The only difference is that in the center there will be a nice juicy pork meatball. Pour in the sweet and slightly sour sauce and... well, "Yum" is the word. Authentically, the meatball is made with pork, but it can be made with ground beef, chicken, or turkey also.
